Dr.
B.L. Kapur Memorial Hospital occupies a unique position
in the Medical Scenario of the Ludhiana city, dedicated
to the service of the people. Dr. B.L. Kapur Memorial
Hospital, Ludhiana played a significant role particularly
in the Maternity and Child Care during the last
five decades.
Dr. B.L. Kapur, M.D. (Germany), started this hospital
at Lahore in 1930 as a small Nursing Home which
became later on a flourishing institution. It became
a recognized maternity hospital in Lahore especially
for the poor classes.
The partition of the country in 1947, forced Dr.
B.L. Kapur to leave Lahore and with the help of
Punjab Government, he started the Ludhiana Maternity
hospital which received public donations and Government
grants. The untiring efforts and fully devoted hard
work of Dr. B.L. Kapur lifted the hospital in to
a multi specialty institution. It started functioning
in Naulakha garden, Ludhiana on evacuee property
allotted the District authorities.
